Merry Christmas to all our customers, colleagues and friends!
All of us here at Norden Farm hope that all of you will be doing the things you love, whether that is enjoying a safe Christmas with family or just relaxing with a loved one (human or animal)!
We hope you all keep safe and well over this festive period.
The festive season is well underway here at the farm, with lots of Christmas trees flying out the door. If you haven’t got yours yet please come and see us: we are waiting to help with your every need.
We still have plenty of Christmas treats, gifts and other goodies, from a Christmas tipple, fruit & veg for the big day and something for the animals in our lives – we have it all here.
Remember to keep warm this winter. We have stocks aplenty of logs, kindling, firelighters & smokeless coal, so come in and load up before the winter weather bites much more.
We pride ourselves in supporting as many local businesses as possible. This reduces food miles and ensures that money stays in the area, especially after a tough couple of years, along with trying to reduce waste along the way.
Here at Norden Farm we try to recycle as much as possible, such as reusing cardboard boxes for groceries instead of using plastic bags, encouraging customers to recycle egg boxes and sorting out waste from all of our businesses. It’s just a small way to reduce materials going to landfill, but if we all do a little bit it adds up.
Each year we donate Xmas trees to Corfe Castle village, and the villagers put on an amazing display to get everyone in the Christmas mood.
We have also donated groceries to Planet Purbeck for an event to encourage children to understand more about where their food comes from, and have donated raffle prizes to Corfe Castle Preschool.
Thank you to all those that made use of the up-cycling box that we introduced this season.
We have donated a lot of these items to local causes. Routes to Roots, a homeless charity based in Poole, have accepted sleeping bags & sleeping mats, whilst local Scouts and Brownies have been given tents, chairs & gazebos. The items that we couldn’t give to charity have been recycled and we have recycled approximately 1 tonne of scrap metal.
By donating and recycling items such as these we have stopped more waste going to landfill. Due to our campers and their diligent efforts, we are making a noticeable impact not only on the planet but to people’s lives too.
Although the campsite is now closed, we are still very busy making improvements on the site ready for your return in 2022.
We are currently upgrading our take away food area, and planting over 200m of English Native Hedging. This will improve water run-off and encourage the local bird and small animals to thrive in their environment.
We have listened to our customer feedback during the summer and one thing that does come up again and again is a play area for the older children (not adults!). We are now in the early stages of designing a new play area and we hope that work can start during next season.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone again, and our lovely animals are missing you all terribly. Sausage and Chips need some extra love from us as they have got used to many of you giving them a good fuss! Sausage has definitely got into the Xmas spirit, looking very handsome in his festive hat and is waiting for Santa to call.
Some of our animals have come in from the winter so we can give them a little extra attention over the cold season, though the sheep & highland cows are quite happy roaming freely.
Our team spirit is not just for the summer season. You will find us all mucking in together whether it is wrapping a Christmas tree outside, serving our lovely customers in the shop or helping with the animals.
We are proud to have such a great team that is more of a family than colleagues in a place of work.
