Christmas 2022 Newsletter

It only seems like yesterday that we wrote the newsletter for Christmas 2021. It is amazing how quickly a year goes by! We hope that everyone has had a wonderful time, meeting up with friends and loved ones alike.

Here at Norden we are yet again gearing ourselves up for a busy festive season. The Xmas trees are in, and we have lots of scrumptious goodies available. So, you can indulge yourself with a delicious panettone whilst sipping a glass of Black Cow Christmas spirit vodka or treat someone close to a palm-oil-free Christmas pudding.

We have stocked up on logs/coal/kindling/fire-lighters and lots of clothes and blankets to snuggle in, to keep you warm this winter, so come on in (we never know when that snow may fall!). Whilst sitting next to that warm fire, why not have a tipple and maybe a sneaky nibble of a favourite treat? We have it all.

Christmas is all about spending time with loved ones and reminiscing over great memories. Here at Norden Farm we had many this year, so we thought we would remind you of just how much has passed in 2022.
This season was a scorcher, the weather was amazing but it was also a year with many highs and lows, Norden Farm celebrated the Jubilee by having a fancy-dress competition for all of the campsite and a great time was had by all.  We were all saddened by the death of our dear Queen, who had been in our lives for so many years.

Many of you will have met various new team members this year right across the different businesses. Given the difficulty within many sectors on recruitment, we have been extremely lucky to have all of them on board and enjoyed working with them. Many returning in 2023, especially Baxter the dog who always gives you a loving wag of his tail.

Continuing with new arrivals, we welcomed Donna and Daphne the goats to our menagerie of animals in June. They are extremely friendly and love a tickle, so next time you’re here make sure to go and say hello.

In February we planted over 1300 native hedging plants including Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Field Maple and Spindle. Once established this will create a haven for wildlife to thrive and animals can use these to shield from bad weather and are an important source of food. This year we have seen an increase in our hedgehog population. Campers and on-site staff have been reporting hedgehog sightings all over the campsite, and we are very excited with this news.

In June, our new assault course play area finally opened and has been a huge success with all ages (including the adults). We also completed our Fridge/Freezer and phone/laptop charger cabin. For all those campers who like traditional camping without electric, we think it has made organising holidays a little easier.

Our annual music nights have been another triumph. We only had to cancel one night due to bad weather and we welcomed the following new bands this year: The Transitions, Galaxy Thief, Hardy & The Monuments, Icarus, The Scanners and Oasiss. Not forgetting our regular musicians: Savage Underdogs, Hugh Budden & The Blue Chords, Longdog and Celtic Confusion. A big thank you to them and all who came to listen.

In September we held our very first Mini Farmers Market in partnership with Planet Purbeck. This was held within the grounds of Norden House. It went beyond our expectations and was a hit with all who came to browse or buy.

We are proud to continue to support charities such as our local Wareham Food Bank, the ambulance staff Charity, we also funded the Margaret Green Animal Rescue’s high-quality, sustainable T-shirts for their volunteers this year. Kirsty (Partner and owner) and AJ (Deputy Campsite Manager) completed a strenuous 14-mile hike, covering 13 Tors of Dartmoor and taking in some beautiful scenery on the way. They managed to raise £550 for Marie Curie, and of course we are still continuing to donate Christmas trees to Corfe Village for the villagers to put on their spectacular Christmas displays, as well as various raffle prizes to local organisations and schools.

Our 2023 diary opened on the 1st November, and you all kept us very busy in the office with your calls, emails and online bookings. We all need something to look forward to so don’t hesitate to book up whilst we have space.

Finally, we would like to thank our lovely customers for choosing us for their holidays. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2023. And not forgetting our great team of staff, who always supports us especially when life goes a bit wonky, we could not do this without them.

We all look forward to seeing our regular and new customers over the festive season.
